Position Summary
The Denton Record‑Chronicle (DRC) is looking for a digital‑first multimedia sales associate to help local businesses grow through effective advertising and marketing solutions. This role works directly with clients to understand their goals, identify opportunities, and recommend the right mix of digital, print, sponsorship, and targeted advertising solutions. The ideal candidate is personable, self‑motivated, relationship‑driven, and comfortable bringing ideas to clients that support their business goals.
What You’ll Do
Build, maintain, and grow relationships with existing customers.
Learn about each customer’s business, goals, challenges, and marketing needs.
Develop new advertising accounts through prospecting, referrals, networking, and community involvement.
Conduct needs‑based conversations with current and prospective clients and recommend effective multimedia advertising solutions.
Prepare and present advertising proposals, campaign recommendations, and pricing options.
Sell and support a mix of digital, print, sponsorship, targeted advertising, and other local marketing opportunities.
Help clients understand the value of advertising solutions that can increase their visibility and reach the right audience.
Monitor campaign performance and share reporting, analytics, and recommendations with clients.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure campaigns are executed accurately and on time.
Represent the DRC at community events, chamber functions, and networking opportunities.
Work toward monthly and annual revenue goals while continuing to grow sales skills and product knowledge.

1–3 years of experience in sales, customer service, marketing, media, business development, or a related field.
Strong interest in building relationships with local businesses and helping them reach new customers.
Ability to listen to customers, understand their business needs, and recommend solutions that support their goals.
Willingness to learn advertising solutions, including print, digital, sponsorships, targeted campaigns, and other local marketing opportunities.
Ability to prospect for new business, follow up with leads, and support existing client relationships.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain advertising options, value, pricing, and expectations.
Ability to bring creative ideas to the table and match customers with advertising solutions that fit their needs.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines, follow‑ups, and multiple priorities.
Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team‑focused sales culture.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and grow in the role.
General computer proficiency, including comfort using email, digital tools, and web‑based applications.

Salary Range
This position is compensated with a base salary plus a commission structure. For this role, estimated combined total annual compensation is $40,000 – $45,000. Commission could increase depending on future performance.

Location
We expect that this position will work out of our Denton office 100% of the time. (Equivalent to 40 hours per week). Remote work opportunities may become available based on meeting or exceeding revenue goals. Time in‑office requirements are subject to change based on the needs of KERA and/or the position.
