Digital Reporter

WTAJ is searching for a full-time digital reporter to join the WTAJ news team in our office in Johnstown, Pennsylvania (on-site). We want someone who's a skilled writer, knows how to craft attention-grabbing headlines, and understands that strong journalism and smart digital execution are not separate skills—but the same job. This is an opportunity to do meaningful work in a newsroom investing in its digital future.
WTAJ is a digital-first local newsroom that cares deeply about the communities we cover. In this role, you will help shape what our audience reads, watches, and engages with every day — on web, mobile, social, broadcast, and streaming platforms.
The digital reporter will be able to reach out to contacts, source the web and find information on social media to build stories across multiple websites, including WTAJ, WTAJ.com, and our streaming app WTAJ+. The ability to take photos and create videos is a plus. A strong knowledge of social media platforms is expected.
Position Responsibilities

Report news quickly and accurately
Be able to craft original content that stands out from the competition
Understand types of stories that drive audience engagement
Produce visual content for on air, online, our mobile app, and our streaming channel
Utilize social media for reporting and content promotion
Act as a digital steward of the WTAJ brand, ensuring all content meets high standards for clarity, accuracy, and credibility
Skill/Experience Requirements

Knowledge of AP style
Comfortable setting up and executing interviews with local sources
Ability to be fast and first at breaking news on the digital platforms
Able to deliver multiple stories on the web each day on a wide range of topics
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Photoshop experience is a plus
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
