Inside the Role
The District Sales Manager is a field-based position that works directly with DTNA's dealer partners to support the sale of new Freightliner and Western Star trucks in vocational applications.
Responsibilities
Promote the sale of Freightliner and Western Star Trucks through direct dealer and customer contact.
Work with dealers and customers to understand transactional details around the purchase or lease of commercial vehicles, and make logical and supportable pricing recommendations.
Assist dealers in planning and achievement of sales objectives.
Monitor and report district dealer and region dealer sales performance.
Assist dealer management with sales forecasts, budgets, inventory planning, training and achievement of sales objectives.
Effectively communicate and serve as liaison between dealers/customers and support departments.
Assist dealers with schedule and other sales coordination activities.
Provide technical sales and/or business management expertise to resolve difficult situations or conditions.
Provide information with facing field managers in Parts, Service and Distribution Development.
Ensure that every effort is made to develop dealers in a way that will maximize their efficiency and profitability.
Compensation and Benefits
Position offers a starting salary range of
$128,000–$164,000 USD
based on knowledge, skills, and experience. Benefits include a 401(k) company contribution with match up to 8% as well as non‑elective contribution of 3‑7% depending on age; starting at 4 weeks paid vacation; 13+ calendar holidays; 8 weeks paid parental leave; employee assistance program; comprehensive healthcare plans and wellness programs; onsite fitness (at some locations); tuition assistance; volunteer paid time off; short‑term and long‑term disability plans.
Knowledge You Should Bring
BS/BA and prefer 5‑7 years of relevant experience or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
Expected travel is 50‑75% required.
Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
Field position requiring self‑management skills in travel, time and managing priorities.
Excellent attention to detail and strong follow‑through.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
Ability to relocate to District 2E (Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, Eastern Iowa) strongly preferred.
8+ years of related experience preferred.
Sales experience and/or experience working within the DTNA dealer network preferred.
Product knowledge preferred.
Where We Work
This position is open to applicants who can work in (or relocate to) Des Moines, IA or Milwaukee, WI. Relocation assistance for this position is available when the selected candidate meets eligibility criteria.
