Job Summary
The Marketing Communications Specialist will translate complex legal concepts into clear, compelling, audience-focused content that supports the firm’s thought leadership, business development and brand strategies. This position will play a central role in the firm’s written communications across digital, email, website, social media and print platforms, strategically leveraging AI and other available marketing technologies to improve visibility, AEO, GEO, and SEO rankings, efficiency, consistency, and performance.
This role partners closely with business development professionals, marketing colleagues and attorneys to develop high quality communications that strengthen client relationships, elevate the firm’s expertise and support strategic growth with prospective clients. The Marketing Communications Specialist is expected to remain curious and informed about trends in the legal, business, and broader corporate environment, proactively identifying opportunities to position the firm through timely, relevant content.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, editor and is comfortable working in sophisticated, fast‑paced environments. The Marketing Communications Specialist must be able to manage multiple, time-sensitive requests while upholding strict confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Salary in the range of $70,000 - $100,000 dependent on location and experience level***
Essential Job Duties
Write and edit a wide range of marketing content—including success stories, thought leadership articles, emails, newsletters, alerts, press releases, website copy, formatted collateral, event invitations, award submissions and biographies.
Interview attorneys and subject matter experts to develop original content and narratives aligned with the firm priorities.
Support social media content execution by adapting and optimizing long‑form content for platforms such as LinkedIn and other appropriate channels, ensuring consistency in voice, message, and brand presentation.
Contribute to content planning and editorial calendars.
Write email alert, e-newsletter and other email campaign content.
Ensure all content aligns with the firm’s editorial, writing, and brand style guides, conducting regular quality control checks.
Develop and refresh website content to support marketing and business development goals.
Optimize content for SEO and AEO in collaboration with the digital marketing team and standards.
Lead and support the drafting, editing and coordination of awards and ranking submissions including client matter descriptions, nominations, case studies and impact statements.
Collaborate with writers and stakeholders to enhance the overall quality of marketing materials and thought leadership.
Demonstrate intellectual curiosity by staying informed about legal industry developments, client priorities, and broader business trends, and proactively applying that knowledge to content recommendations and execution.
Perform other related duties and contribute to special projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.
At least two years of experience in public relations, communications, copyediting, or journalism.
Exceptional professional writing, editing and proofreading skills, including grammar, style, and spelling.
Experience with SEO and AEO best practices and web content optimization.
Proficiency in major style guides (Chicago, AP) with the ability to adapt to firm-specific style rules.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards under tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong time management, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
Must be able to perform all essential job duties.
Permanent authorization to work in the United States.
Other Requirements
This position requires extensive use of a computer and telephone, as well as printing, copying, faxing and scanning equipment. The employee may be required to sit, stand, talk, see, and hear. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with a diverse group of people is essential.
