VDC Specialist – Mechanical Plumbing
iENG Design, part of IMI Companies, is seeking a qualified professional to join our Virtual Design Construction (VDC) team located in Charlotte, NC. We are looking for a VDC Specialist with a minimum of 1 year of experience in plumbing design and fabrication.

Primary Responsibilities

Generating detailed deliverables such as spool drawings/maps, installation drawings, and hanger maps.

Collaborating with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure accurate and efficient integration of plumbing systems within the overall building model.

Designing and modeling plumbing systems based off P&IDs, design drawings, or engineering markups.

Providing technical support to project teams by troubleshooting VDC‑related issues and assisting with model revisions as needed.

Developing hanger and supplemental steel layout and fabrication plans.

Supporting the field and shop operations through the project lifecycle.

Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of modeling and design work, adhering to project codes, specifications and standards.

Primary Qualifications

Associate’s degree in applied science and/or equivalent relevant experience in CAD drafting, engineering, construction management, or a similar field is preferred.

1‑3 years of experience in plumbing design, VDC, or a related field.

Knowledge of IPC, UPC or other plumbing codes.

Familiarity with REVIT, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Planner. Overall strong computer skills are expected.

Willing to travel on an as needed basis for project needs and team collaboration.

Ability to work within an environment with deadlines, maintaining attention to detail while managing multiple duties.

Strong work ethic with capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.

Proficiency in identifying potential problems or risks and developing creative solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000
