Job Summary
The Sales Manager, Protein Sales is responsible for helping achieve revenue targets for our product lines, with direct responsibility for managing sales of over 800k ton of commodity proteins and generating annual sales revenue exceeding $350 million. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, managing key customer relationships, and analyzing market trends to identify new opportunities with customers and our internal teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the sales process, have a proven track record of success in a high-volume sales management role, and possess excellent leadership qualities.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Develops and implements comprehensive sales plans to meet and exceed goals
Responsible for sale of finished products and forecasting annual sales objectives
Negotiates and execute contracts with customers
Ability to sell and prospect for potential new business
Builds and maintains strong, long‑lasting relationships with customers
Coordinates service of finished product, including inventory management, logistics, and scheduling to meet production facility and customer needs
Communicates sales position, margins, freight needs and projections to various levels of management
Works closely with Product Quality and Safety Teams to ensure product quality
Point person on communication between end users, our plant personnel, and customer service
Completes forms, paperwork, etc. in connection with customer approvals, audits, regulatory requirements, pricing and contract fulfillment
Coordinates trade show and conference schedules, meetings, etc.
Oversight of administrative duties in regard to order entry, scheduling, and account receivables
Works closely with all internal teams to ensure alignment of sales strategies and support throughout
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Business, Marketing or related field
5+ years of comparable work experience in an agriculture, ingredient or related field
Equivalent combination of education and work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Background in agricultural business/sales a plus
Proficiency in Oracle sales, purchases and inventory management programs
Detail oriented; highly organized; self‑motivated; ability to multi‑task
Work well in a team environment
Agility in decision making
Excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers
Experience working in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Working Environment:
Exposed to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environments such as high noise level, strong odors, and/or exposure to heat and cold. Exposed to bio‑hazardous conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical hazards, risk of electric shock, potentially dangerous equipment, travel to off‑site locations. May require work evenings and weekends.
Physical Demands:
Requires sitting, walking, stooping, climbing ladders, using hands to operate computer and office machinery. Weight and force demands up to 10–25 pounds typically; occasionally may handle up to 50–100 pounds. Vision demands include close vision (20 inches), distance vision (20 feet), color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
