Graphic Design Specialist (Temporary)
This temporary role (May 25 – July 1) supports Los Medanos College by producing marketing and communication materials, including a print version of the Educational Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities
Produce creative briefs, coordinate copy and image production, and design assets for print and digital channels.
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to understand project requirements and target audiences.
Develop design strategy aligning with KPIs, brand standards, and accessibility requirements.
Maintain brand standards and assist in creating brand guidelines and templates.
Manage multiple design projects, coordinate with vendors, and support budget preparation.
Implement version control and quality assurance protocols to ensure error‑free deliverables.
Capture and edit photos and videos for marketing materials, websites, and social media.
Provide training and support to colleagues and student workers or interns.
Qualifications
Three (3) years of work experience in graphic design or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or an associate degree plus two years of relevant work experience.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Strong knowledge of design principles, brand identity, visual storytelling, typography, and color theory.
Experience with accessibility standards and design for diverse audiences.
Ability to produce high‑quality work under tight deadlines and manage multiple stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to inclusive design.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, photography, and publication layout for print and digital.
Understanding of brand identity design, client‑creative relations, and social media graphics.
