Position Overview:
Midtown Houston is seeking a

Creative Marketing Specialist

to support the execution of marketing and communications initiatives across the district. This role reports to the

Marketing & Communications Director

and is responsible for producing high-quality, on-brand creative assets and digital content that support Midtown’s campaigns, programs, and public-facing communications.

This position plays a critical role in delivering consistent, timely, and visually compelling marketing assets across social media, email, web, and advertising channels. The role requires creativity, strong attention to detail, and an understanding of digital trends, tools, and storytelling strategies to help position Midtown Houston as a vibrant, connected, and thriving urban district.

As a Creative Marketing Specialist, you will:
Creative & Campaign Asset Production

Design and produce Midtown-branded marketing materials including Midtown’s programming and event promotions, campaign assets, flyers, social graphics, and digital ads

Develop multi-size asset packages for integrated campaigns (social, web, email, and digital placements)

Maintain visual brand consistency across all platforms

Create light motion graphics and simple animations as needed

Social Media Content Production

Produce and package social media content including graphics, captions, story sequences, and short-form video

Capture, edit, and develop photo and video content for social media, including Reels and other platform-native formats

Support execution of monthly social media calendars based on director-approved strategy

Ensure content is optimized for engagement across platforms

Email & Newsletter Development

Build and maintain newsletter templates aligned with Midtown branding

Format and prepare newsletters using director-provided content & copy

Support scheduling and distribution of recurring email campaigns

Digital Advertising Support

Develop creative assets for paid campaigns (display ads, social ads, campaign visuals)

Assist with ad setup, execution, and ongoing optimization in collaboration with the Director

Website Management

Manage website updates and visual content

Execute website change requests and content updates from Midtown Staff

Upload and maintain website graphics, landing page assets, and page content elements (banners, tiles, and promotional sections)

Photo & Video Support

Capture or coordinate photography and video content for events, programs, and campaigns

Maintain organized digital asset libraries for internal use

Internal Creative Operations

Execute assigned creative and marketing deliverables based on priorities and timelines set by the Marketing & Communications Director

Maintain organized files, templates, and asset systems

Collaborate with internal teams to translate initiatives into visual content

Follow Midtown’s internal workflow: Director sets direction based on strategy → Specialist collaborates with Director to develop content and creative → Director reviews, provides edits and feedback → Director gives final approval → Specialist executes approved materials

Scope of Work:
The Creative Marketing Specialist serves as Midtown’s

in-house creative production lead , responsible for executing day-to-day marketing deliverables including:

Digital graphics

Campaign assets

Social media content production

Newsletter templates

Paid advertising creative and execution

Website management and change requests

Web visuals

Photo and video support & execution

Required Qualifications:
Job Type:

Formal Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, or a related field with a focus on visual content creation, digital media, or communications.

Required Experience:

Minimum of two years of practical experience in public relations, digital marketing, content marketing, advertising, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Proficiency in digital marketing and creative tools, including Mailchimp, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, social media management platforms, and scheduling tools such as Hootsuite

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling content for diverse audiences

Knowledge of SEO/SEM practices and ability to support campaigns that drive visibility and engagement

Ability to align marketing deliverables with organizational goals, campaign priorities, and brand standards

Competencies:

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Excellent verbal communication skills

Detail-oriented

Ability to present ideas and information clearly

Strong relationship-building skills and ability to maintain them

Creativity and willingness to experiment with new trends and technology

Reliable and self-starter

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with public-sector, nonprofit, or place-based organizations

Familiarity with digital analytics (social media and email performance)

Strong photography, videography, and editing experience, with the ability to produce polished visual content for digital platforms

Experience supporting marketing or communications efforts within a district, municipal, or community-focused organization
