Position Summary
The Office of Student Life enhances the mission of OSU-Cascades by its own mission of A) social change agents and social responsibility, B) empowering students to engage in challenge and discovery, and C) implementing programs and framework that are student informed.
Student Activities comprises a group of students who plan campus-wide events and support Recognized Student Organizations. We encourage students to participate in events and clubs as a way to make friends, develop skills, and create memories outside of the classroom. Programming Coordinators are responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing various small- and large-scale events throughout the year.
This recruitment will be used to fill three (3) part-time Programming Coordinator positions for the academic year.
This position will work 15 hours per week at $17.30/hour. Training begins Tuesday, September 8th.
Hours during the year include Week 0-10 during Fall term, Week 1-10 during Winter term and Week 1-Finals week Spring term.
Required events: Saturday, September 19th - move in event (evening), Sunday, September 20th - SSC Takeover (evening)
This position is located in Bend, Oregon.

Position Duties
Event Planning and Support (60%)
Plan, initiate, manage, complete, and evaluate a detailed Event Plan for each assigned event, inclusive of planning timeline, event timeline, estimated budget, and promotional plan
Evaluate Student Activities events, including event reports and recommendations for the future
Coordinate with other Student Activities staff to ensure appropriate staffing at events and assign necessary duties.
Work with OSU-Cascades professional staff, community members, outside vendors as needed for events
Administrative Responsibilities (25%)
Collaborate with the Student Activities team to set and accomplish goals for the organization
Demonstrate dependability by maintaining regular office hours
Actively engage with students, faculty, staff, and visitors utilizing clear and welcoming written and verbal communication skills on the phone, in emails, and in person.
Attend Student Activities staff meetings and engage in ongoing training, professional development, and community building
Support the development and maintenance of educational tools, trainings and tutorials for Student Activities staff and campus community
Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Planner to communicate and manage responsibilities
Complete other administrative tasks as needed
Other Position Responsibilities (15%)
Represent Student Activities on a committee or work group within the Office of Student Life or Student Affairs
Work to learn, enhance, and promote diversity and social justice
Represent Student Activities and the Office of Student Life to the OSU-Cascades and Central Oregon community
Engage in ongoing professional development and community building
Duties Breakdown
Nine hours will be for Office Hours supporting administrative processes
Four hours will be for either:
Event Lead or Event Support - must lead 1/3 of events, assist with at least two a term
Event prep/follow-up (switches approximately every other week) or club event support and thirty minutes for every other week individual check-in meeting
Thirty minutes will be for weekly Program Review meetings
Sixty minutes will be for weekly Student Activities meetings
Important Dates
Interviews will begin shortly after applications are received due to change in HR system. Any remaining available positions will be re-posted mid-July.
Required Training: Tuesday, September 8th to Thursday, September 17th: Student Activities begins student training (8 hours a day)
Required Events: Saturday, September 19th - move in event (evening), Sunday, September 20th - SSC Takeover (evening), one additional event during Week 0/Week1
Minimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the
Office of International Services
(OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Experience working collaboratively as a part of a team
Ability to organize work, manage time, and follow through on tasks in a self-directed environment
Desire or interest in working with a variety of organizations and people from diverse cultures, communication styles, histories, and team structures
Strong communication skills, interpersonal and written
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Previous experience working for any of the units in Student Life
Experience engaging traditionally underrepresented social identities (I.e. Race, Gender, Gender Identity, or Ability)
Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
Knowledge of or experience with project management
Experience in leadership activities, student organizations, community service, and/or outreach activities
Previous experience working on a committee
Experience working with various tools within Bend Beavs Central and Microsoft Office365
Eligible to return as an OSU-Cascades student for the 2027-2028 academic year (Junior standing or below)
In good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of employment
Maintain at least a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (undergraduates) or 3.0 (graduates) and be in good academic standing
