BONUS: $3,000 Sign-On bonus paid in two installments
PAY RANGE: $70,000–$80,000 based on experience
BENEFITS: In addition to a competitive wage, BGCNP offers a $1500 hiring bonus in first paycheck, a $1500 retention bonus at 6 months, and discounted childcare for employee children ages 5+ enrolled in BGCNP programs.

Job Summary
The Unit Director leads day-to-day operations, public relations, and crisis management for all Units, Extensions, and Community Impact Sites in their assigned community. They serve as the face of the Club locally, ensure implementation of the 5 Key Elements of Positive Youth Development, and oversee Club policy compliance, programming, safety, and culture. The Unit Director engages regularly with parents, staff, and the administrative team. All Boys & Girls Club employees are expected to uphold the mission of the Club.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Facility Management
Oversee daily operations across multiple Units, Extensions, and Community Impact Sites
Ensure smooth facility operations and proactively address youth and Club-wide management needs
Manage staffing and safe operations during snow days and unplanned closures
Step in on unexpected or urgent responsibilities typically handled by the administrative team
Staff Leadership & Human Resources
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and motivate full- and part-time staff
Conduct performance reviews (including 60-day, quarterly, and improvement plans), and manage disciplinary actions
Hold consistent one-on-one check-ins with direct reports and lead monthly staff meetings and required trainings
Ensure staff consistently implement the 5 Key Elements of Positive Youth Development
Promote and model the Club's core values: excellence, impact-driven work, teamwork, and integrity
Youth Development & Member Services
Support youth behavior and discipline plans; lead on major guidance and behavior matters
Ensure compliance with behavior policy, special needs protocols, safety standards, and success plans
Regularly assess program effectiveness and adjust to meet youth needs
Track and report on youth participation across Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles
Community Engagement & Public Relations
Represent the Club in the community, including radio, TV, print, and Club tours
Build strong relationships with school principals, counselors, and other educational stakeholders
Cultivate parent relationships through orientations, ongoing communication, and daily interaction
Partner with local community groups to enhance services and community impact
Lead Unit-level recruitment and marketing initiatives
Event, Program & Grant Oversight
Lead planning, execution, and follow-up for Club special events
Administer grants and ensure programs meet objectives, deliverables, and reporting requirements
Provide program content for newsletters and publications
Complete annual BGCA Impact and Safety Assessments and meet all evaluation deadlines
Fiscal Accountability
Monitor and manage budgets for staffing, events, and program areas
Ensure resource allocation aligns with organizational priorities
Administrative
Attend all required organizational meetings, including monthly all-staff, weekly supervisor 1:1s, and Coordinator team meetings
Monitor membership data and null reports for accuracy, and ensure accurate duplicated and unduplicated participation tracking
Maintain meeting documentation for all direct report 1:1s
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Club's mission and operations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Demonstrated experience working with youth preschool through 12th grade
Proven management and supervisory experience, ideally in a youth-serving or nonprofit environment
Strong leadership presence with the ability to coach, mentor, and hold staff accountable
Positive, solutions-oriented outlook
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Deep understanding of youth development principles and behavior management aligned with the Club's core values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, high expectations, and safety
Ability to provide both immediate and reflective feedback that supports positive youth development
Physical Requirements
Capacity to observe, interact with, and communicate effectively among youth, staff, volunteers, and parents to ensure a safe and supportive Club environment
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods during a shift
Ability to safely operate general office equipment (computers, phones, copiers)
This position is safety-sensitive and requires consistent awareness of and responsiveness to the safety of all Club members
