As our Senior Illustrator, you will bring craft, vision, and creative ownership to the illustration needs of our product platforms. You will sit on our Design team-sharing in its culture, standards, and creative life-while embedding day-to-day with our Product team to serve their illustration needs as we build and grow our app and web experiences.
This intentional structure will allow you to be the creative bridge between two worlds: grounded in the Design team’s understanding of our brand, and engaged with the Product team’s practical needs.
This is a senior role. We’re looking for someone with deep craft, a strong and articulate creative voice, and the independence to own their work from concept through execution. Rather than just executing briefs, you will help shape what product illustration means at BibleProject.
In all your work, you will bring your skills and experience to help further our mission of helping people experience the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus.

About this Role
As our Senior Illustrator, you will bring craft, vision, and creative ownership to the illustration needs of our product platforms. You will sit on our Design team-sharing in its culture, standards, and creative life-while embedding day-to-day with our Product team to serve their illustration needs as we build and grow our app and web experiences.

What You'll Be Doing
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership
Serve as the creative bridge between the Design and Product teams — communicating illustration thinking clearly and bringing collaborators along in the process.
Help raise the standard of illustration across the organization through your example and voice.
Advocate for craft and brand consistency, pushing back when needed and articulating creative decisions with confidence.
Responsibility
Develop and execute illustrations for BibleProject's app and web platforms, working within and extending our established visual identity.
Embed with the Product team for day-to-day work, taking direction from Product collaborators while staying anchored in Design team culture and rhythms.
Manage your own creative process, flag blockers early, and follow through with consistency.
Expertise
Bring conceptual depth to illustration briefs — understanding not just what is being asked for, but why, and what the work needs to accomplish.
Explore and define creative direction, not just execute it; contribute to strong visual development at every stage.
Maintain a high bar for craft and consistency across a wide range of product illustration needs.
What We're Looking For
6+ years of professional illustration experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating range, concept development, and brand fluency in digital product environments (app, web, UI).
Proven ability to internalize an established visual identity and express it consistently across varied contexts.
Strong visual development skills — able to explore and define a creative direction independently.
Excellent communication skills; able to give and receive feedback, articulate creative thinking, and navigate working across two teams.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Figma.
Demonstrated ability to concept and deliver work independently without close supervision.
