Primary Responsibilities

Select, prepare, and distribute vocal music for auditions.

Provide professional assessment of students’ vocal abilities at auditions.

Collaborate with the director to develop and implement a comprehensive rehearsal schedule for music instruction.

Instruct and rehearse cast members in all vocal music (mid‑September through early November; approximately 2 hours after school, up to 5 days per week, with scheduling flexibility).

Refine and polish student voices throughout the production for articulation, projection, and musicality.

Conduct vocal warm‑ups prior to performances (6:30 PM).

Coordinate with the choreographer to ensure alignment between rehearsal music and any rehearsal recordings.

Serve as liaison with the orchestra conductor during the sitzprobe rehearsal.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Communicate clearly and professionally.

Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary production team (e.g., technical staff, choreographer, orchestra conductor).

Proficiency in piano accompaniment.

Prior experience in choral direction and/or musical theatre music direction preferred.

Strong instructional skills, with the ability to motivate, support, and challenge student performers.

Salary
May be granted a maximum of five years experience for documented experience. $2,992.86 to $4,338.68 per season.
