Overview
GovCIO is currently hiring for an experienced Installation Associate 3 opportunity supporting our Special Operations Support Services Business Unit fully onsite in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This position focuses on the installation, operations, and maintenance of audio‑visual systems and projects. The candidate must possess strong leadership, technical skills, a great attitude, flexibility, strong communication, and a continuous willingness to learn, teach, and develop the team.
Responsibilities
The candidate will conduct installation services, provide technical assistance, and adapt various video display system sizes and a range of digital signal processors and analog audio installations. They will integrate, install, configure, and maintain complex AV systems, including projectors, LCD/LED video walls, DSPs, microphones, and network‑connected devices. They will also integrate accessories such as UPS, instrument panels, XLR audio, Dante audio, CAT, video signaling, and patch panels, monitor and verify quality per process, check components, test for validation, troubleshoot electrical systems, and perform repairs or reinstallation of layer‑1 infrastructure as needed. Custom infrastructure will be installed using industry‑standard cable building proficiency and cable protection practices. The candidate will review technical drawings, document field changes, and submit redlines to ensure as‑built drawings reflect the final installation. They will provide high‑level technical support, assist with system solutions, mentor junior technicians, coordinate with vendors, ensure compliance with industry standards, and manage project timelines. They will recommend technology upgrades, design signal flow diagrams, and provide training to end users. Preventative maintenance will be performed, and faults in audio, video, and control systems will be diagnosed. The role requires the ability to lift heavy equipment (50 lbs) and work on scaffolding, ladders, or lifts.
Additional key activities include:
Conducting AV/IT site surveys, project planning, and design support.
Making recommendations on hardware, cabling, and equipment requirements.
Planning, building, and installing cable patch panels and cable infrastructures.
Installing and terminating all types of standard IT cable and fiber.
Installing AV hardware, cabling, and equipment.
Building equipment rack installations.
Using technical drawings (AV/IT).
Conducting integration processes with AV projects.
Operating and maintaining audio‑visual components, systems, and video teleconferencing suites.
Performing inventories of project materials.
Maintaining a configuration database of control hex commands.
Tracking, submitting, and assisting with incident reports and material requests in ServiceNow.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent with 6‑9 years of relevant experience (or commensurate experience).
Required Skills and Experience
Clearance Required: TS
Current and active U.S. Passport.
Current and active U.S. Driver's License.
Attainment of AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) within 180 days of employment.
Ability to wear personnel protective equipment, including a protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor, and chemical/biological protective garments.
Medically/physically fit for deployment with U.S. Military Forces Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) under USCENTCOM Medical Standards.
Willingness to travel CONUS & OCONUS up to 25% of the time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts clearly.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
Physical ability to lift 50 lbs.
Capability to work in austere environments while OCONUS.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Active TS or ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
Experience with Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility processes and procedures.
Experience with IT devices such as servers, graphic cards, and video display systems.
Experience with basic PC functionality, software updates, firmware, drivers, and video card changes.
Experience with Audio‑Visual equipment.
Experience with cable/fiber infrastructure.
BICSI Infrastructure, Copper, and Fiber Certifications.
Experience with Uninterruptible Power Supplies.
Knowledge of AV over IP systems.
Knowledge of Dante AVB system configuration.
Knowledge of Crestron and Extron system components/software.
Extron AV Associate Certification.
AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
