Compensation
The salary base range for this position is $65,000 – $65,000 Annually. Additional compensation includes eligibility to earn a performance‑based commission monthly plus an annual bonus. Total compensation potential is $128,000 based on achieving targeted goals.
Role Description
The Territory Sales Representative prospects, qualifies, and closes new customers by selling propane solutions within a specific territory assignment. The TSR assesses customer needs, builds relationships, and presents sales proposals with a focus on new and existing commercial accounts. The TSR meets and exceeds sales goals as defined by the Territory Sales Manager on the Total Sales Profit (TSP).
Key Characteristics
Sales: Experienced in sales; develops prospects, presents to accounts, and closes sales that build volume within the assigned territory.
Communications: Ability to establish and develop internal and external relationships, present proposals, and build client accounts.
Strategic: Understands how the propane business operates and is knowledgeable about company products, business segments, and the selling process.
Duties and Responsibilities
Increase commercial revenue from new and existing customers.
Relationships: Establish strong relationships with prospective customers using diverse prospecting and business development techniques.
Sales Planning: Develop and execute a sales plan for the specific geographic area to maintain effective sales call activity and increase productivity; prepare and present proposals to current and prospective customers.
Networks: Focus efforts on decision‑makers in targeted client organizations to lead them to the AmeriGas solution.
Time Management: Schedule time effectively to develop relationships with new clients, meet commitments to existing clients, and maintain productivity.
Competitive Awareness: Protect AmeriGas from competitive threats by maintaining and sharing excellent competitive intelligence.
Strategic Selling: Target customers and exhibit expertise on propane products and solutions, staying current on industry regulatory changes.
Work with Territory Sales Manager and vendors to improve sales tools and techniques.
Maintain working knowledge of applications and customer solutions.
Attend periodic meetings and training classes as required.
Administrative:
Prepare complete and accurate paperwork based on corporate policy and procedures.
Review commission statements to ensure accurate payment.
Proficiently use the CRM tool for new account acquisition.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Sales: Must possess all sales skills needed to independently prospect the assigned geographic territory, discover needs, present solutions, and secure new business.
Productive: Must maintain a high level of productivity through careful time management across the territory.
Propane Industry: Understands propane products and services.
Valid Driver’s License: Must be able to travel within the local area, including customer visits, district visits, and trade shows.
Education and Experience
College degree or equivalent work experience required.
Sales Experience: Demonstrated record of sales success and goal attainment.
Commercial/Industrial Sales Experience Preferred.
