Summary
Position: Strategic Communications Specialist (GS-13, Step 1-10). Salary range: $121,785.00 to $158,322.00. Location: Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management, Strategic Partnerships and Communication Division Office, Washington, D.C. (Additional locations may be considered).
Duties
Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate internal and external communication and engagement strategies, materials, and programs.
Write internal and external publications and briefs to inform audiences about CBP programs, priorities, and initiatives.
Collaborate with higher‑graded individuals on out‑year planning documents for communication needs.
Analyze policies to identify and anticipate internal and external communication needs.
Requirements
U.S. Citizen.
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
Pass background investigation and drug testing.
Employer compliance with DHS Drug‑Free Workplace Plan.
Adherence to government ethics standards.
Not covered under bargaining unit.
Qualifications
At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑12, performing duties such as: planning and implementing programs and activities through strategic analysis and collaboration; managing high‑visibility projects; communicating and coordinating across agencies; analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of communication programs and recommending solutions.
Experience may include paid and unpaid work, volunteer experience, and other related activities.
