Responsibilities

Madison's most-watched news station, WMTV, has an immediate opening for an evening anchor/reporter in one of the country's top places to live.

Madison is a vibrant capital city and college town known for its award-winning farmers' market, incredible outdoor lifestyle, and a growing community of young professionals.

Our evening co-anchor contributes daily to elevating our team and newscasts and is an ambassador of the station championing our community initiatives.

This is a high-profile position demanding leadership and ambition.

The person we hire must make a daily and noticeable impact in streaming and traditional content.

You will be a mentor to others on our team.

You are willing to evolve and try new things.

The way we've always done things no longer cuts it.

Qualifications

Minimum three years of newsroom experience.

A college degree in journalism or a related field.

Must have an established and responsible presence on digital platforms, including station website, social media, and streaming.

Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (on digital platforms) and broadcast writing for television.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), proven news judgement, ability to make ethical calls, balancing speed vs. accuracy, and ensuring we have integrity in our news reporting.

Strong work ethic, organizational, and leadership skills.

Must be able to work quickly, meet deadlines, multitask, and show composure, especially during breaking news.

This is a nightside position. However, you must have the ability to work long hours/overtime, weekends, and overnights when warranted for breaking news and specialized coverage.

Must be able to carry + pounds of gear, and be experienced in shooting and editing unique content.

All of our anchors are expected to know how to MMJ, if needed. We do have photographers to partner with on appropriate assignments.
