Position Overview

The Director of New Product Planning (NPP) - Biopharma, reporting to the Executive Director of R&D Strategy and New Product Planning, is a vital strategic role that bridges R&D and Commercial. This position focuses on developing strategies and market insights to drive the success of early-stage and mid-stage assets, particularly within the U.S. biopharma landscape. The key emphasis will be on CNS and Neurology programs, among others. This role is essential for ensuring that pipeline products are adequately positioned for clinical, regulatory, and commercial success, aiding the organization in making informed investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Strategy: Lead the commercial strategy for all CNS pipeline programs while collaborating with R&D to influence Target Product Profiles and development plans.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive assessments of market landscapes including patient segments and treatment paradigms to inform asset decisions.
  • Forecasting: Develop robust commercial forecasts that support valuation, prioritization, and strategic investment cases.
  • Input on Clinical Design: Provide strategic consult on clinical trial designs and regulatory strategies, optimizing paths for market access.
  • Competitive Insights: Generate market insights through active monitoring of competitive landscapes to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Portfolio Prioritization: Support annual portfolio review processes by bringing an objective commercial view to global R&D CNS programs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across Clinical, Regulatory, Medical, HEOR, and Finance teams to incorporate commercial perspectives into the drug development process.
  • Brand Development Support: Assist in early brand development, focusing on value propositions and go-to-market strategies.
  • Business Development Contributions: Participate in business development evaluations with commercial assessments of external assets.

Core Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of CNS/Neurology and familiarity with clinical development pathways and reimbursement considerations.
  • Proven ability to prepare financial forecasts and market assessments.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and an aptitude for influencing others.
  • Experience working across multiple geographic regions.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and structured problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to synthesize data and scientific insights into actionable guidance.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to thrive in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Prior experience in commercial planning or similar roles within the biopharma sector is essential.
  • A strong preference for candidates with CNS/Neurology experience, particularly with conditions like Parkinson's Disease and rare epilepsies.

Compensation

The base salary for this role ranges from $197,400.00 to $246,800.00. This salary is part of a comprehensive rewards package that includes opportunities for merit-based raises, participation in incentive plans, medical benefits, and a robust time-off policy among other benefits.
