AccountMakers has been engaged by our client, a fast-growing media company based in New York City, to hire a Director of Sales. This full-time leadership role will oversee revenue growth across advertising, brand partnerships, and content distribution channels, driving strategic expansion through new business development, agency relationships, and key account growth.

Are you a dynamic sales leader with deep experience in media, advertising, entertainment, or digital platforms? Our client is seeking a Director of Sales to lead revenue growth initiatives across advertising sales, sponsorships, branded content, and strategic partnerships.

This is a high-impact leadership role for a commercially driven executive with strong relationships across the New York City media and agency ecosystem. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of scaling multimillion-dollar revenue streams, leading high-performing sales teams, and building strategic partnerships within fast-paced creative environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute go-to-market and revenue strategies across advertising sales, sponsorships, branded content, and media distribution partnerships.
  • Drive revenue growth across direct brand relationships, media agencies, strategic enterprise accounts, and digital distribution platforms.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing New York City-based sales team focused on exceeding revenue targets and expanding market share.
  • Establish and monitor key sales performance metrics including pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, pricing strategy, CPM optimization, and overall revenue growth.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with major brands, media buyers, advertising agencies, studios, distributors, and strategic partners throughout the NYC market.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership, marketing, content, production, and audience development teams to align monetization strategies with programming and audience growth initiatives.
  • Negotiate complex advertising agreements, sponsorship packages, licensing deals, branded entertainment partnerships, and long-term commercial contracts.
  • Identify and develop new revenue opportunities across streaming, digital media, branded content, live events, and emerging distribution channels.
  • Represent the company at industry events, media conferences, screenings, networking engagements, and client meetings to elevate brand visibility and drive business development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 8–12+ years of progressive sales experience, including at least 4 years in a senior sales leadership role within media, advertising, entertainment, streaming, or digital platforms.
  • Proven track record of driving multimillion-dollar revenue growth across advertising sales, sponsorships, branded content, media partnerships, or digital distribution.
  • Strong existing relationships within the New York City media, advertising, and agency ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing sales teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Deep understanding of media sales cycles, digital advertising models (CPM/CPC), pricing strategy, forecasting, and pipeline management.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach to scaling revenue and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Strong negotiation, executive communication, and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and partners.
  • Experience building cross-functional partnerships across executive leadership, content, marketing, production, and audience development teams.
  • Proficiency in CRM and forecasting tools, including Salesforce preferred.

Compensation

This full-time leadership position offers a base salary of $180,000–$240,000+ annually, plus performance-based bonuses tied to revenue growth and partnership development. A comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
