What You Will Do
The Director of U.S. Access Marketing is responsible for developing and deploying brand and therapeutic area focused marketing campaigns and tactics for Alexion’s U.S. portfolio. This role works closely with access strategy leads to develop a tactical plan supporting overall access strategies and objectives. The Director will create and refine access‑related, customer‑facing marketing materials supporting the tactical plan in collaboration with matrix and cross‑functional partners such as brand marketing leads, HEOR, clinical, and account teams, across customers (payers, providers, channel/trade partners, specialty pharmacies). These efforts result in a positive customer experience. The Director will focus on in‑market and launch product marketing campaigns for multiple customer types, managing budget and agency partners, conducting market research, collecting customer feedback from account teams, and designing targeted marketing materials to address customer concerns and optimize access via omni‑channel. The role is based in Alexion’s Boston headquarters and reports to the Executive Director, US Access Strategy & Marketing.
You Will Be Responsible For
- Leading development and management of the U.S. managed care marketing plan for assigned products in collaboration with access strategy leads.
- Leading development of marketing programs, tools and resources, including legal, medical and regulatory review and approval processes, training, and rollout of approved materials to customer‑facing account and field reimbursement teams.
- Leading development and management of the payer value narrative and related materials for assigned products in a competitive marketplace.
- Creating marketing campaigns, including using omni‑channel to engage customers and supplement traditional marketing engagement efforts.
- Ensuring alignment with other product franchises with multiple indications for consistent messaging to payer customers and access stakeholders.
- Collaborating closely with Access Strategy Lead, HEOR, brand, clinical, and account teams to shape value messages and develop pre‑approval information exchange (PIE) materials.
- Managing payer marketing budget, agency, and external vendors as necessary.
- Conducting market research and message testing to ensure the effectiveness of marketing materials.
- Leading field input sessions to collect feedback from field‑based account and reimbursement teams to continuously align marketing materials with key customer feedback and strategic priorities, informing access strategy leads.
- Designing targeted marketing materials for channel accounts, tailored to address specific customer concerns and optimize access while conserving gross‑to‑net (GTN).
- Partnering with data analytics for targeting, pull‑through, and opportunities to maximize engagements.
You Will Need To Have
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area of study.
- 5‑7 years U.S. managed care or related experience in a competitive marketplace, or in a pharmaceutical marketing role.
- Demonstrated experience developing U.S. access marketing materials.
- Ability to complete quantitative and qualitative analyses of complex strategic initiatives.
- Ability to understand the business models, influence/impact, and decision drivers of U.S. commercial and government payers as well as channel customers (e.g., specialty pharmacy and distribution, home infusion).
- Working understanding of reimbursement methodologies utilized by commercial and government payers under the medical and pharmacy benefits.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally in a matrix environment effectively and communicate complex business challenges and data‑driven recommendations to senior leaders.
- Experience reviewing marketing materials with medical, legal, and regulatory review committees.
- Up to 15% travel as required.
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment; employees must be able to use a computer and engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging, collaborate with others, and maintain general availability during standard business hours.

- MBA, MPH, or other advanced degree.
- Rare disease medicines experience.
- Launch marketing experience.
Benefits
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $186,105.60 – 279,158.40 USD, with additional incentive and equity opportunities. Benefits include a qualified retirement program (401(k) plan), paid vacation and holidays, paid leaves, and health benefits such as medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with applicable plans.
