We are seeking an experienced
Senior Product Development Engineer
to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will combine strong
mechanical design
skills with deep
manufacturing experience , especially in
machined and welded assemblies , and will be able to drive new products from concept through full-scale production.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the
conceptual and detailed design
of new mechanical products, from initial ideas through to release for production.
Interpret and apply
customer and industry specifications
to ensure designs meet all technical and quality requirements.
Review, approve, and update
engineering drawings and models , including the application and verification of
GD&T .
Evaluate designs against
customer requirements, manufacturing methods, and cost targets , making necessary design and process adjustments.
Create and maintain clear, accurate
engineering documentation , including drawings, specifications, work instructions, and change records.
Provide
product and process support
throughout the product lifecycle, including introduction, ramp-up, and ongoing production.
Develop and refine
manufacturing processes
for new and existing products, including
tooling, fixtures, routings, and process sheets .
Lead the design and implementation of
fixtures and tooling
for machining, brazing, welding, testing, and related operations.
Collaborate with
subject matter experts
in machining, brazing, welding, and heat treatment to implement robust, cost-effective processes.
Support
on-time launch of new products
through timely release of documentation and direct support to the production floor.
Help control
manufacturing costs
by optimizing processes, tooling, and workflows.
Analyze
inspection and test data
(including CMM reports and other measurement data) to confirm capability and drive improvements.
Prepare and process
engineering changes
and related quality/manufacturing records (such as ECNs, DMRs, and MRB actions).
Lead or participate in
root cause analysis
and corrective/preventive actions for product and process issues.
Contribute to
cost estimates and quotations
for new products or process changes.
Drive and support
cost reduction and process improvement
initiatives across products and manufacturing lines.
Research and develop more efficient
methods, workflows, and equipment
to improve quality, delivery, and cost.
Work within
cross-functional teams
that may include design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations.
Participate in or lead
R&D and continuous improvement projects .
Mentor and support junior engineers and designers , sharing best practices in design and manufacturing.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering .
6+ years
of experience in
manufacturing or product engineering , with direct involvement in
NPI (New Product Introduction) , design, and production.
Demonstrated experience with
machining
of mechanical components (e.g., CNC machining, precision machining, or similar).
Hands-on experience with
tooling and fixture design
for manufacturing operations.
Direct experience with
brazing and/or GTAW (TIG) welded assemblies ; exposure to
heat treatment
of metal parts is strongly preferred.
Strong background in
engineering drawings
and
GD&T , including reviewing and approving drawing packages.
Experience working with
engineering change processes
and quality documentation (e.g., ECN/ECO, MRB, DMR or equivalent).
Proven track record in
process improvement, cost reduction, and manufacturing support
on the shop floor.
Experience working in and/or leading
cross-functional teams
and mentoring less-experienced engineers.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications
Proficiency with a
3D CAD system
(e.g., SolidWorks or similar).
Experience with
MRP/ERP systems
(such as Oracle, SAP, or equivalent).
Familiarity with
aerospace or defense standards
(e.g., AS9100, ASME drawing standards such as Y14.5 or equivalent).
Exposure to
Six Sigma, Lean, or other structured continuous improvement methodologies .
