Tesla is seeking a Technical Writer to join the Tesla Energy Team in Hayward, CA. You willmanagethe knowledge baseforvariouscommercial and chargingproducts,with a focus on process, software,and product content foran internal audience.
Asa technical writer supporting business operations, you will need to develop a strong understanding of how Tesla's energybusinessoperatesand interacts with various internal software systems. By using in-house tools, partnering withproject or program managersfrom service, quality, and design, and working collaboratively with diagnostics, training, technical operations, and other teams, you will contribute to the growth and acceleration ofvarious products such asMegapacks and Superchargers.
What You'll Do
Communicate and collaborate with subject matter experts (project managers, technicians, and product managers) to build strong working relationships and gather information
Understandbusiness processes and systemsand communicate them effectively to non-technical people
Validateinformation for accuracy and use a routing and review process for document approval
Edit content according to a style guide and enforce organization standards
OptimizecontentforAI parsingby implementing consistent structure, adding metadata,and consistently updating content for accuracy
Migrate content to new templatesor knowledge management systems
Manage tasks and information flow using collaboration software (such as JIRA, SharePoint, and custom databases)
What You'll Bring
Degree in English, Technical/Professional Writing, Communications, or equivalent experience
2+ years of Technical Writing experience in a high-tech environment collaborating with technical subject matter experts, or in a similar product-focused role
Experienceusing AI applications in daily life or inthe workenvironment, andacuriosity aboutleveragingand improving them
Cheerful outlook and flexibility toward frequent change and inevitable mid-project priority modifications
FamiliarityorexperiencewithSharepoint,HTML, XML,andDITA
Ability to manage multiple documentation projectsbyaddressingprioritiesandfollowingprocesses
Experience creating visual content that directly goes with text within documents, such as taking photographs and editing them to include callouts and zoom-ins, and/or pulling images from engineering databases

Expected Compensation $68,000 - $126,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
