HVAC TB Controls Technician – KALISPELL, MT
Overview

Join the Johnson Controls team as a Controls Technician to perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation and HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct preventive maintenance and repair of control systems, HVAC equipment, and building automation systems under minimal supervision.
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex control system malfunctions, modify software, and write system updates.
Consult with customers, provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements, and assist sales with technical recommendations.
Mentor and coach Controls, Service, and Mechanical technicians to ensure high-quality service.
Prepare service and project documentation, including certificates of completion, training records, punch lists, and as‑built drawings.
Assist in design, configuration, network layout, and software development for building control systems as requested by project documents.
Coordinate with subcontractors, project managers, and customers to ensure on‑time and within‑budget project execution.
Provide safety leadership and conduct training for customers on control system operations.
Maintain technical proficiency through self‑study and certification.
How you will execute

Utilize knowledge of electronic and digital control systems, building automation, and HVAC equipment to perform field work.
Communicate findings, progress, and recommendations to customers and management promptly.
Prepare field changes, sketches, and drawings for engineering corrections.
Schedule and track materials, support factory mount and commissioning processes.
Assist with site‑specific training and release meetings with project teams.
Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
Associate’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated ability to install and service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
Strong communication skills suitable for representing the company on customer sites.
Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Effective writing skills and understanding of software applications.
Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and subsystems.
Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate range: $28.84–$38.46, determined by education, experience, skills, and market data. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package that begins on day one, including 401(k), medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, holidays, and sick time.
