This position is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation to work a minimum of four days in-office each week, allowing for one remote “flex day” with leader approval. About the Job
The Senior Manager of Marketing Operations and Planning plays a crucial role in orchestrating Marketing's involvement within PetSmart's Commercial Calendar, a vital enterprise planning process that integrates Merchandising, Merchandise Planning & Allocation, Digital, and Marketing.

Your leadership will be at the heart of PetSmart's Marketing organization, which includes Loyalty, Customer Analytics & Research, Brand Experience & Creative, and Omni-Channel Marketing. You will ensure cross-functional alignment, planning rigor, and execution readiness across the commercial milestones, focusing on effective planning, recapping, and communication.

In our dynamic, matrixed environment, you will drive enterprise integration, inform strategic decisions, and ensure that Marketing plans are cohesive, insight-driven, and aligned with our business priorities.

Core Responsibilities

Enterprise Commercial Calendar Coordination:

Oversee coordination of Commercial Calendar milestones within Marketing, collaborating with various teams.

Ensure Marketing presentations and inputs for milestones are complete and high-quality, developing and consolidating content in partnership with Marketing & Digital team members.

Represent Marketing in Commercial Calendar forums, clarifying needs and effectively cascading key takeaways to cross-functional partners and Marketing teams.

Proactively coordinate across Marketing teams to ensure adherence to Commercial Calendar timelines.

Lead Marketing Hindsight Processes

Direct the quarterly hindsight process across Marketing, collating and summarizing results with cross-functional partners.

Synthesize cross-channel performance, customer insights, and campaign outcomes into actionable insights.

Translate learnings into recommendations to enhance future Commercial Calendar planning and marketing strategies.

Own the Weekly Business Recap for Marketing that collates key customer and marketing insights.

Campaign Planning & Strategic Briefing

Guide the development of strategic briefs for quick-turn and category-level campaigns aligned with commercial priorities.

Collaborate with channel & creative teams to create effective marketing plans and review campaign performance.

Gather cross-functional inputs to drive briefs and plans effectively.

Ongoing Improvement & Opportunity Identification

Contribute to the evolution of team capabilities by identifying gaps and opportunities within marketing operations & planning processes.

Recommend solutions to address team growth needs as the function expands, with potential for direct people management in the future.

Qualifications

8-10+ years of experience in marketing operations, strategic planning, or related roles within complex organizations.

Proven success leading integrated planning processes across multiple marketing disciplines.

Strong strategic mindset combined with disciplined operational execution.

Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to collaborate effectively across all levels.

Highly organized with strong project management skills; capable of managing multiple priorities and timelines.

Ability to simplify complex inputs into clear, actionable strategies and plans.

Experience in developing strategic briefs and leading integrated campaign planning.

Strong analytical skills with experience translating performance data into valuable insights.

Experience in retail, consumer, or omnichannel environments is preferred.
