SCHOOL DESIGN OVERVIEW:
Mapleton Public Schools is proud to offer a robust and award-winning Performing Arts program to all registered Mapleton students in grades 5-12. These programs include band, choir, and orchestra, with grades 7-12 participating in our Zero Hour program at either our Skyview Campus or the Mapleton Arts Center (MAC) on the Global Campus.
Fifth and sixth grade students are offered band, choir and orchestra as beginning classes in all of our K-6 and K-8 schools during the normal school day. In addition, extra-curricular after-school opportunities include Drama, Color Guard, Mariachi and Jazz Band. These programs emphasize the art of live performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Colorado teaching license with an appropriate drama and theatre arts endorsement preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in theater set design
Experience in designing and overseeing the construction of sets
Proficiency in design software and tools
Knowledge of construction techniques and materials
Experience working with high school students
Experience working with diverse learners
EXPECTATIONS:
Reading scripts, researching historical and thematic elements, and developing initial sketches and detailed drawings of set designs
Working with directors and other key personnel to ensure a cohesive visual effect
Creating cost estimates for set construction
Purchasing of set materials and supplies
Overseeing the building and assembly of sets with student tech crew
Training the student tech crew in safety protocols and operation of equipment
Sets the tech schedule with the musical director and communicates the schedule to all members of the tech crew
Attend musical rehearsals, as needed
Supervises the tech crew at rehearsals and musical performances
Will need to strike and load out set at the end of the matinee
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
Willingness and ability to collaborate with colleagues to carry out the mission of the performing arts department
Maintains professional communication and interactions with students, community, and staff
Utilize effective practices for community building, including rituals and traditions that build a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment
Model, instill and actively participate in building a supportive and positive culture in the performing arts department
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Demonstrates knowledge of national, state, and local drama and theatre arts standards
