Job Summary

The Special Construction Supervisor scopes and estimates the delivery of fiber internet service to businesses, schools, and other entities in the communities we serve. They conduct site surveys, develop scopes of work to bring fiber from the right-of-way (ROW) into customer premises, and collaborate with installation technicians and sales reps to determine entry points and construction methods. They provide site surveys, cost estimates, and scope documents and manage special construction projects while ensuring compliance with local and national standards.
Essential Functions

Perform site surveys during the pre-sales process and develop a scope of work and cost estimate for the special construction activities required to bring service from the ROW into the customer premises.
Work closely with installation technicians and sales reps during the pre-sales and service delivery phases of assigned special construction projects.
Understand ROW construction standards, including aerial and underground construction methods, permitting requirements, NESC standards, and OSP construction standards for fiber-optic deployments.
Supervise site operations during special construction that includes excavation, trenching, and boring activities for deploying underground fiber-optic networks.
Ensure team safety, minimize disruption to existing infrastructure, and comply with jurisdictional regulations.
Directly supervise subcontract resources and coordinate multiple resources as needed to complete projects in a timely manner.
Understand local and state ROW permitting requirements to scope projects accurately, obtain necessary permits, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements such as county/city ROW permitting and DOT regulations.
Accurately and effectively prepare written correspondence to cross-functional teams, including site survey documentation and cost estimates.
Attend construction meetings when requested.
Read and interpret construction documents, plans, and splicing diagrams used in splicing fiber optics.
Review preliminary construction prints from right-of-way authorities, determine potential conflicts, and attend utility coordination and construction progress meetings as needed.
Establish positive relationships with team members, partners, and municipalities.
Ensure all employees have a safe working environment.
Work closely with engineering to provide continuous feedback on the OSP design and recommend changes that increase build efficiency.
Perform other duties as determined necessary.
Education and Experience

Minimum five (5) years of OSP construction personnel experience.
Experience scoping and estimating OSP construction projects highly preferred.
Experience with FTTH construction projects highly preferred.
Experience with Excel, Google Earth, or ArcGIS systems.

Working Hours and Days

Monday through Friday, full-time with overtime as needed.
Travel Requirements

10% overnight travel required.
