Job Overview

Position: Production Manager Trainee. The trainee will learn, demonstrate knowledge and skills, and become certified in all aspects of company systems and pork industry standards while working under the supervision of the department leader.
Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Competitive Starting Pay: $17.50/hour.

Core Responsibilities

Learn, demonstrate capability, and become certified in all farm department areas, including Breeding/Farrowing and Nursery/Finishing.
Develop a solid understanding of and ability to implement company systems such as pig production processes, animal flow, farm health, genetics, and husbandry.
Perform and master all hourly jobs under supervision; become certified in each job upon showing competence and understanding.
Develop and prepare required reports on experiences and share opportunities for improvement.
Comply with all environmental laws and procedures and complete Leadership Certification.
Understand and comply with company IPS, biosecurity, animal welfare, and EMS policies and procedures.
Report all environmental, animal care, and biosecurity issues immediately to supervisor.
Act as HOD as needed and be on call for emergency situations such as alarm calls, inclement weather, power outages, personnel shortages, and environmental emergencies.
Progress through the Manager Training development program.
Report any issues interfering with program completion to Human Resources.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or related agricultural field, or current college student with anticipated graduation by the end of the current semester.
Ability to work an average 48‑hour week, including weekend, evening, and holiday work as needed.
Must shower in and out of farm facilities daily.
Ability to lead others.
Willingness to relocate for training and first managerial assignment.
Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software.
Ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
Respectful, approachable, team‑oriented, and capable of building strong working relationships.
Support the mission of raising swine for high‑quality pork products.
Willingness to perform tasks such as euthanasia, castration, vaccinations, piglet processing, ear tagging, blood sampling, and operation of a high‑pressure washing system.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Must tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, odors, and frequently noisy conditions.
