Job Overview

Develop product from concept to finished goods. As a Sr. Product Developer, you will use your exceptional skills and knowledge of products and processes to bring innovative designs to completion. Your focus will be on developing quality, on‑time, cost‑efficient products that accurately reflect each brand position leader. This position reports to the Sr. Product Development Manager in the Irvine, CA office.
Key Responsibilities

Create and maintain comprehensive spec packages that meet the product’s goals for performance, innovation, image, function, and commercial viability.
Continuously ensure packages are complete and free from errors.
Deliver tech packages to vendors precisely within the development calendar time frame.
Receive product samples at the scheduled time and present them to the design and merchandise teams for review.
Research and evaluate new methods of assembling a garment and combining materials and manufacturing technology to achieve the highest levels of performance, style, and quality.
Review and prioritize performance, safety, and style to properly incorporate them into products.
Visualize performance and styling goals and create solutions to achieve them.
Work as part of the Product Development Team—Product Designer and Merchandiser—to manage and meet design and sample deadlines.
Ensure the vendor meets the originally intended design and details from the initial development phase through production.
Approve all components, fit and construction, and oversee the production stage.
Source materials and trims for each specific product appropriate for its end use.
Maintain and grow knowledge of fabrication and its functionality.
Train and mentor other Product Developers.
Cross over to other category/brands as necessary.
Participate in choosing appropriate sources for each style regarding volume, technique, fabrication, and cost.
Receive costing data and work with the team to achieve margin goals for each style.
Work independently and use discretion and judgment to represent the brand accurately.
Maintain documentation of your portion of the product process and make it readily available to others.
Research and visit production factories, mills, supply houses, washing and finishing facilities, and showrooms to understand the manufacturing supply chain.
Recommend new working relationships for Fox Racing with outside vendors and suppliers, and coordinate with the Purchasing/Production team to qualify them.
Monitor and track the full development process with vendors and suppliers, providing full accountability.
Notify other departments of critical information that will affect their areas.
Travel to foreign countries to visit factories and aid with development and production issues.
Travel to research fabrics, trims, and techniques.
Attend markets such as races, contests, and festivals for research.
Attend trade shows, meet vendors, and research trends in materials, color, trims, and manufacturing.
Key Qualifications

College degree in Apparel Design or related field.
Minimum five years of product development experience.
Ability to create all pages of a spec package, including Bill of Materials and construction.
Strong discretion and independent judgment to meet objectives within set timelines.
Proficiency with Windows (Word and Excel).
Advanced knowledge of a product specification package in Centric PLM.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience managing multiple development projects across categories within the set timeline and meeting standards set by management.
Experience in costing, negotiation, forecasting, manufacturing, sewing assembly, materials, and construction techniques.
Experience exploring new construction and manufacturing technologies.
Ability to execute complete projects, resolve issues, and recommend solutions to design and merchandising teams.
Ability to work across multiple categories/brands, meeting all calendar deadlines and standards.
Capability to train and mentor others.
Strong attention to detail, conceptual thinking, confident decision‑making, and good judgment.
Project management and leadership skills.
Excellent time management skills and superb organization.
Understanding of fit, pattern making, and grading.
Prior experience in apparel.
