Category Specialist (Cambridge)

Role Overview

Farmers Depot is seeking a Category Specialist to support the growth and performance of key product categories. Reporting to the Category Manager, this role plays a hands‑on part in pricing analysis, marketing execution, vendor coordination, and sales enablement.
Location & Hours

This permanent, full‑time role is based in Cambridge, Ontario; Red Deer, Alberta; or Lethbridge, Alberta. Working hours are Monday‑Friday, 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., with occasional flexibility and travel as needed.
Responsibilities

Monitor competitor pricing and market activity.
Prepare pricing and margin analysis to inform category decisions.
Support development of retail, dealer, promotional, and volume pricing.
Assist with sales forecasting for new products (6–12 month outlooks).
Support SKU rationalization and regulatory compliance initiative.
Partner with the GVF marketing team to execute product campaigns across flyers, website, email, social media, digital ads, catalogues, and retail locations.
Support new product launches with accurate and timely marketing materials.
Maintain customer‑facing product information (descriptions, images, documentation).
Contribute to bi‑annual catalogue production and vendor coordination.
Work with vendors to secure promotional support and funding.
Participate in vendor planning meetings.
Communicate product updates and changes internally.
Support equipment installation coordination when required.
Qualifications

2–4 years of experience in category support, marketing, sales support, procurement, product management, or a related role.
Post‑secondary education in business, marketing, procurement, agriculture, or a related field (preferred).
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Analytical mindset with a desire to develop strategic capabilities.
Strong communication skills and comfort working cross‑functionally.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic workplace.
Agricultural, farming, or animal health background is an asset.
