Operations Technician

to join our Pipelines and Terminals team and support our assets in Austin & Taylor, TX. Responsibilities
As an Operations Technician, you will have primary responsibility for the instrumentation, electrical and mechanical maintenance of the bulk storage facility, including the truck loading rack. You will coordinate with schedulers for the successful delivery and receipt of petroleum products. Technicians also input computer data and reconcile fuel tank inventories on a regular basis. This position is also responsible for the safe and efficient operations and maintenance of pipeline and station assets. Daily responsibilities include pipeline locates, excavation oversight, facility station checks, maintenance of equipment, and responding to customer needs. Successful candidates must also understand and comply with all federal, state, and company regulations. The Operator will be held accountable to accurately documenting operational activities which will require computer work, including word processing, spreadsheets, work orders, and electronic communication.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to support the team as you manage small projects requested by your Terminal Manager. Projects may include electrical troubleshooting, mechanical troubleshooting, pump maintenance, valve maintenance, testing of system safety devices, periodic inspections of tanks, valves, or piping, and other product quality control or technically oriented tasks related to a petroleum products facility. A general knowledge of pumps, valves (twin‑seal, ball, gate, etc.) and bulk storage terminal and pipeline operations will be an asset to you in this role. You will also ensure that overtime and travel costs are successfully managed.

On-Call and Travel
In the event of terminal and other system “call outs”, you need to be willing to be available for on‑call rotation during selected nights and weekends as required. Team members must be willing to occasionally travel (with overnight stays) for training, meetings, or to assist short term at other locations.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, bending, twisting, climbing and balancing

Occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching and crawling

Use of personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, fire‑retardant clothing, respirator, safety work boots, etc.) as required

Lifting up to 50 pounds (frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds)

Respond to audio alarms or other loud noises indicating a safety concern

Communicate hazardous conditions and other dangers

Work near moving mechanical parts, in wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, high precarious places, and around fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals

Qualifications

A valid driver's license

Able to respond to an emergency call out within a 30‑minute window to both the terminal in Austin, TX (9011 Johnny Morris Rd, Austin, TX 78724) and the Taylor, TX terminal (11496 Chandler Road, Taylor, TX 78634)

Must be available for on‑call rotation including nights, weekends & holidays

Able to meet physical requirements of role

Preferred Experience

2+ years construction/maintenance experience in the refined products and/or oil & gas industry (mechanical/industrial trade school considered work experience)

Two‑year technical or mechanical degree

1+ year experience with instrumentation and/or electronics troubleshooting

1+ year experience in the pipeline industry

6+ months of experience locating underground pipelines

Experience in electrical and/or mechanical
