Associate News Editor

Overview

We are seeking an energetic and efficient Associate News Editor to join our Live Journalism team. The editor will work closely with senior editors to shape and grow Live Journalism’s event franchises, focusing on subscriber events that bring talent closer to audiences.
Responsibilities

Conduct research across WSJ coverage areas to pitch themes and topics for Live Journalism events.
Cultivate relationships with guest speakers and coordinate their appearances.
Collaborate with the Audience Strategy team to plan and execute a slate of subscriber events hosted by newsletter authors, columnists and prominent reporters.
Help develop a social media strategy to showcase the events and live experiences offered by WSJ.
Uphold the highest WSJ journalistic, ethical and legal standards across event programs.
Collaborate with editors and reporters to refine their on‑stage appearances and topics.
Pitch actionable ideas for stories, videos and graphics that grow from or feed into events.
Qualifications

A solid journalistic background with an interest in multi‑platform journalism.
Passion for the evolving live experience landscape and its convergence with media and entertainment.
Enthusiasm for developing social media content for a premier journalism brand.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage stakeholders for multimedia projects and events.
High energy, creativity and idea generation.
In‑depth knowledge of business, culture and finance, and the topics and trends that drive coverage.
Strong communication skills; excellent writing, editing and contact‑making (cold emailing, phone calls).
Outstanding writing, editing and communication skills.
This position reports to the Deputy Editor of Live Journalism and will be based in our New York office.
