Photographer 403(g) – Paramount – Chicago, IL

We are looking for an experienced photojournalist to capture news events for CBS Chicago newscasts, CBS News Streaming, and local programming.
Responsibilities

Cover news events and stories as a photojournalist for CBS Chicago newscasts and CBS News Streaming.
Support multi-platform social media strategies and cbschicago.com.
Operate broadcast cameras, drones, digital microwave and satellite ENG vehicles, non-linear editing systems, and IP-based broadcast applications.
Demonstrate knowledge and experience with Sony HD cameras, Edius non-linear editing, ENG lighting, microwave and satellite transmissions, drones, and GoPro-style cameras.
Edit news stories under urgent deadlines while maintaining editorial integrity.
Safely operate company vehicles, including microwave‑equipped vans and trucks, on long drives in all weather conditions.
Bring creativity and inspiration to broadcast storytelling.
Ensure all daily show production deadlines are met.
Protect news equipment from theft and damage.
Collaborate in the editorial process in a team environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Physical ability to carry and manipulate at least 75 lbs of gear, set up and break down equipment, often alone and on tight deadlines.
Capacity to drive company vehicles in all conditions, potentially for hours-long drives.
Flexibility regarding work schedule, including weekends, late nights, and overnights.
Reliable communication of editorial and logistical details.
Ability to gather important information at various news locations.
Must join IBEW 1220 union if not already a member.
Proven five years of experience as a photographer and editor, preferably in a top 25 market.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Strong non-linear editing background, especially with Edius.
Valid Illinois driver’s license.
Drone ENG experience with FAA Part 107 certification is a plus.
Jib and Technical Operations Center experience is a plus.
Strong computer and troubleshooting skills.
Compensation

Hiring salary range: $109,589 – $122,476 (subject to geographic location and experience).
