Position Overview
The Ben, an Autograph Collection hotel located in West Palm Beach, is seeking a proactive Sales Manager to lead direct reports in achieving property sales goals and enhancing profitability through strategic sales initiatives and digital marketing.
Position Responsibilities
- Achieve a minimum of 90% of productivity goals and 100% of activity goals as set by management.
- Lead direct reports to meet property sales goals and hold them accountable to their responsibilities.
- Execute a strong direct sales program via appointment-based calls; requires reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Maximize key accounts and drive new business through networking, research, and strategic prospecting, including targeted account development plans and ongoing “hit list” execution.
- Implement eCommerce and digital marketing strategies while promoting the brand story to increase profitability.
- Continuously adjust sales strategies based on market trends to achieve optimal business mix and exceed revenue, profit, and occupancy goals.
- Maintain a strong understanding of competition, hotel operations, and current sales techniques; actively prospect through telemarketing and innovation.
- Utilize yield management practices to negotiate rates and optimize function space for maximum financial performance.
- Maintain organized and accurate account management systems, develop detailed customer profiles, and ensure timely follow-up on all client inquiries.
- Build strong client relationships through professional, courteous, and ethical interactions, delivering exceptional service.
- Conduct ongoing market research to capitalize on opportunities, strengthen competitive positioning, and prioritize revenue-generating activities.
- Manage expenses responsibly; represent The Ben and Sage Hospitality with professionalism and integrity.
- Foster a collaborative team environment through strong communication across departments.
- Maintain a polished, business-like appearance and positive, service-driven attitude at all times.
Education and Experience
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience: 4+ years of hotel sales management experience (3-5 years preferred).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of general sales techniques, yield management, and customer service skills.
- Ability to travel and meet clients on and off premises.
- Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing).
- 12th grade level mathematics, spelling, and reading skills.
- Effective business writing skills; ability to read fine print and interpret layouts on screen.
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities.
- Problem‑solving ability and sound business decision making.
Physical Demands
- Employee will spend approximately 85% of time sitting; 5% walking and 5% standing.
- Requires dexterity and mobility to meet clients, tour property, attend events, climb stairs, and operate basic office equipment.
