Sr. Director, Intellectual Property Lead

Overview

Reporting to the General Counsel, as the Intellectual Property Lead, you will have significant responsibility in managing Seqirus’ global IP matters, including patents, trademarks, copyright, regulatory exclusivities, and other intellectual property rights.
Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the IP function, managing a team of patent and trademark professionals and technical specialists supporting products, platform technologies, and innovation pipelines.
Provide strategic oversight of IP litigation and contentious matters, coordination of strategy, evidence and settlement positions, and high‑level guidance on trademarks and brand protection.
Develop and enforce the global patent and trademark portfolio and regulatory exclusivities portfolio, ensuring compliance with intellectual property laws.
Support IP aspects of deals including licensing, collaborations, partnerships, supply and distribution agreements, and M&A.
Coordinate cross‑functional collaboration across R&D, Commercial, Regulatory, Clinical, Manufacturing, Strategy and Legal.
Manage external counsel relationships and direct strategy for disputes, oppositions, litigations and enforcement matters.
Act as the primary point of contact for Seqirus management and General Counsel on all IP related matters.
Qualifications

Master’s degree in life sciences (chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology) or related field. Preferably PhD or equivalent experience.
Qualified Patent Attorney or IP lawyer admitted to practice in the US, Europe, Australia or equivalent legal qualifications.
At least 12 years’ post‑qualification experience in Intellectual Property and 5 years’ experience with life science technologies and operations of in‑house IP teams.
Experience managing or supervising IP litigation, including instruction and oversight of external counsel.
Strong background in trademark matters and portfolio strategy.
Proven experience managing an in‑house IP team in a pharmaceutical or biotech field.
Proven experience in due diligence, life‑cycle management, IP challenges and negotiations.
Willingness to travel and work across different time zones.
