Job Summary
The Partnership Manager, Tax is responsible for providing tax and consulting services to our Pass-Through clients.
Responsibilities
Perform tax planning, preparation, and research for Pass-Through businesses, manage client engagements, and supervise and review work of team staff members.
Prepare book and record write-ups and compose written tax advice or responses to IRS inquiries.
Contribute to client satisfaction by delivering timely services and work product.
Demonstrate an understanding of tax concepts and actively pursue increased tax knowledge through client assignments and current tax developments.
Tax Compliance:
Ensure clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens and ensure firm staff comply with firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
Conduct top‑level review of T/R and resolve all tax issues with clients, involving specialists when appropriate.
Communicate any issues identified in tax accrual reviews with client and Assurance.
Plan and review tax processes, including budgeting and staffing, monitoring engagement process and time versus budget, timely billing, and timely collection of accounts receivable.
Manage client relationships and expectations in accordance with the project.
Provide timely advice to clients.
Research:
Identify when research is needed; frame issues clearly and report analysis concisely.
Apply firm and professional standards for preparation of written tax advice and returns.
Involve firm specialists when appropriate.
Strategy Development:
Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to improve client, firm, or staff positions, such as reducing taxes or expenses.
Review studies of tax implications and offer alternative courses of action to clients.
Identify and leverage lessons learned on prior projects and provide input on process and method improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Build a team of professionals by training and working together to serve clients with timely responses.
Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
Review work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide review comments.
Train associates and seniors on use of current software tools.
Act as a career advisor to associates and senior associates.
Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates.
Provide verbal and written performance feedback.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another relevant field, required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Master’s degree in Taxation, preferred.
Detailed oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills as well as decision‑making skills.
Capable of developing and managing a team of tax professionals.
Capable of effectively developing and maintaining client relationships.
Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions.
Advanced knowledge and experience with subchapter K of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 as amended.
Working knowledge of and experience with Targeted Capital Account Agreements.
Knowledge of 704(b) Capital & Tax Capital account maintenance.
Knowledge of 704(c) allocations.
Knowledge of optional basis adjustments under sections 734 & 743.
Knowledge of section 752 liability allocations.
Experience
Five (5) or more years of public accounting experience working in the private client area (individual, estate, partnership, S-corporation, trust, and private foundation tax/consulting clients).
License / Certifications
CPA certification, required.
Software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Colorado: $95,000 - $130,000
Illinois: $105,000 - $130,000
Maryland: $113,000 - $120,000
Massachusetts: $120,000 - $130,000
Minnesota: $90,000 - $120,000
New Jersey: $115,000 - $140,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $125,000 - $155,000
Washington: $95,000 - $125,000
Washington DC: $120,000 - $140,000
