Role Overview
Wirecutter is seeking a Projects Editor to support editorial planning and cross‑functional project management. The role is an individual contributor within the larger editorial operations team, reporting to the Editorial Operations Manager. The position is New York‑based.
Responsibilities
Manage the publishing calendar with audience and publishing leads, prioritizing seasonal, high‑priority, or timely coverage.
Lead lineup meetings, identify and delegate steps, connect stakeholders, and maintain accountability for coverage deadlines.
Lead or co‑lead editorial project management for packages such as special series, feature editorial packages, and Wirecutter deal events.
Identify and operationalize workflow improvements across the newsroom.
Build efficient and repeatable plans and workflows, collaborate strategically with stakeholders.
Develop deep expertise in newsroom tools and champion their adoption.
Train the newsroom and update documentation and training materials as tools evolve.
Communicate workflows, tools, and processes throughout the newsroom.
Lead documentation design and training sessions, ensuring consistency and clarity.
Support new journalists’ onboarding through training and process improvements.
Create and maintain documentation with an eye for consistency, clarity, and relevancy.
Support the New York Times mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
Basic Qualifications
4+ years of professional experience in project management or journalism.
Extensive experience managing multiple priorities, assignments, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously.
Comfort leading training sessions, presenting data and ideas, and writing process documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Airtable, Zapier, and/or Confluence.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual base pay range: $82,000 – $86,000 USD. Variable pay may include an annual bonus and restricted stock.
