Senior Reporter
ABC News Washington is looking for a Senior Reporter to join our Washington reporting team.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned journalist with excellent reporting and writing skills with fluency in reporting/writing about international affairs, national security and intelligence, and politics; with the ability to manage and file breaking news stories in a fast‑paced news environment with excellent editorial judgement and experience in field producing.
This is an in‑office role five days a week. The candidate should be willing to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends, and be able to travel on short notice.
Responsibilities
Work closely across all Washington reporting units.
Strong reporting, source development, television production and news script writing.
Produce daily story assignments, breaking news events, and long‑term enterprise reporting.
Find primary sources to produce stories.
Significant White House, Congressional, political and/or investigative reporting experience is highly desirable.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum seven years of experience reporting/producing in the news industry.
Strong editorial and storytelling skills.
Strong writing/scripting skills.
Experience covering national security, intelligence issues, and/or politics.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment handling developing news situations.
Passion for news/politics and ability to pitch and provide dynamic ideas for all ABC News platforms.
Writing and reporting experience producing video content.
Field producing experience highly desirable.
Experience booking interviews and working under tight deadlines.
Preferred: Broadcast journalism experience.

Compensation
The hiring range for this position in Washington, D.C. is $185,500 to $248,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
