Associate Editor

To steer the platform's editorial operations, the full-time remote Associate Editor will manage editorial quality and output, assign and edit articles, and contribute to the growth of Planetizen's audience and engagement.
Key responsibilities

Assigning, editing, and publishing 2-5 feature and editorial pieces weekly while collaborating with external contributors
Sourcing, summarizing, and publishing approximately 30 pieces of essential urban planning news for the newsfeed each week
Utilizing analytics to monitor and optimize editorial content performance and managing quality assurance tasks for various Planetizen products

Required qualifications

2+ years of experience in a newsroom or editorial environment with experience managing external contributors
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and editorial quality
Strong judgment, critical thinking, and editorial instinct
Experience with Google Workspace, Google Analytics, and content management systems like Drupal
Interest in urban planning with a willingness to become an expert in the field
