Senior Editor, Restaurants – Bon Appétit (New York, NY)
Bon Appétit is the destination for food‑obsessed audiences who live to eat. We deliver original, home‑cook‑friendly recipes and restaurant and culture content that help home cooks at every level get dinner on the table.
The Senior Editor, Restaurants will oversee the dining coverage vertical, working with brand leadership to set and execute the content strategy across social, newsletters, video, and print. The role is based in NewYork City, in‑office four days a week, and reports to the Executive Editor.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead the restaurants content vertical, setting strategy and ensuring execution across all platforms.
Manage editorial direction for projects and events, such as the Best New Restaurants tentpole.
Assign and edit coverage beats for staff and contributors, ensuring a robust content pipeline and meeting brand KPIs.
Collaborate with stakeholders across the brand and CondéNast departments on content execution, including editors, creative team, audience development, social media, video, and more.
Write stories across platforms and content areas, as well as participate in video, social video, podcasts, and special events.
Represent the brand in media and public appearances as necessary.
Qualifications
10+ years of writing, editing, and producing content at a major digital‑first publication.
Experience producing restaurant‑focused content within a multiplatform editorial strategy (digital, newsletters, video, events, print).
Significant management experience, guiding the work, growth, and performance of others while meeting deadlines and objectives.
Mastery of cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable with deadlines and KPI execution for subscriptions and traffic.
Expert‑level editorial judgment, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to provide perspective and insight that maintains brand voice and vision.
Proficiency with analytics tools such as Parse.ly, Google Analytics, and Looker, as well as digital CMSs and editorial calendar management systems (e.g., Airtable).
Comfort using narrative and visual media, including video, audio, and live events.
Passion for food and drink.
Salary
Base salary range: $92,500 – $140,000.
