The Role: Transmission & Interconnection Director

As Transmission & Interconnection Director, you lead the strategy and execution required to secure power for new large-load data center developments. You are accountable for interconnection applications, utility negotiations, and agreements that reserve capacity and fund required grid upgrades.

You ensure each project stays on a predictable path to energization. You manage utility relationships, elevate risks early, and create the operating structure that allows multiple projects to move forward in parallel. This role directly influences project timelines, capital exposure, and infrastructure risk.

What You’ll Do

Own the end-to-end utility coordination and load interconnection process across multiple data center developments

Submit and manage all interconnection and service request packages, ensuring complete and utility-ready documentation

Lead negotiation and execution of service agreements, interconnection agreements, facilities agreements, construction agreements, special contracts, and amendments

Track utility study milestones, upgrade scopes, construction timelines, and energization schedules

Escalate risks that threaten capacity, schedule, or cost certainty

Translate customer power, reliability, and sustainability requirements into clear scopes for engineering and delivery teams

Partner with Legal and Regulatory teams on tariff approvals, filings, testimony preparation, and negotiation strategy

Coordinate with utilities and ISO or RTO stakeholders where applicable, understanding each party’s role and governance structure

Monitor evolving large-load integration policies and utility screening practices, translating impacts into near-term strategy

Align finance, operations, and legal stakeholders on contract structure, cost allocation, and risk management

Maintain centralized records of agreements, amendments, and performance metrics

Review and summarize utility tariffs and large-load provisions across current and prospective markets

What We’re Looking For

Operates with accountability and clarity in regulated environments

Makes independent decisions that shape project timing and risk exposure

Leads cross-functional alignment across engineering, legal, finance, and development teams

Communicates complex tariff and interconnection topics in clear, practical terms

Anticipates regulatory and market shifts affecting large-load customers

Builds trusted relationships with utilities, regulators, and industry stakeholders

Creates structure and process that reduce surprises and disputes

Required

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

8+ years of experience in utility coordination, transmission and distribution planning interface, large-load service delivery, or energy infrastructure project development

Direct experience managing end-to-end interconnection or utility engagement processes

Experience negotiating utility-facing agreements, including service, interconnection, facilities, or construction agreements

Working knowledge of utility tariffs, large-load provisions, and OATT concepts

Experience managing multi-site schedules and tracking study milestones and load forecasts

Strong project management skills and advanced proficiency in Excel

Preferred

Experience supporting regulatory filings or engagement with public utility commissions or federal agencies

Experience supporting hyperscale data center or other high-demand load projects

Familiarity with ISO or RTO planning and governance processes
