About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Editor-in-Chief to join Wiley's Advanced team, serving as Editor for Dermatology for our flagship journal, Advanced Science, alongside leading the development of a related title.
The ideal candidate will act as a dedicated ambassador for the Advanced portfolio, with an extensive global network in dermatology and related disciplines. They will drive strategic initiatives that connect leading research communities and shape how interdisciplinary science is published and shared worldwide. The Editor-in-Chief will actively participate in the peer review process and decision-making for submitted manuscripts, while ensuring the adoption of best practices and the highest ethical standards in publishing.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic initiatives to grow Wiley's Advanced portfolio within dermatology globally.
Commission high-quality papers and build collaborative relationships with leading researchers through active community engagement.
Act as a visible ambassador for the journal at conferences and within the global research community to drive submissions and brand recognition.
Contribute to the launch and development of new titles within the Advanced portfolio, driving growth from an early stage.
Collaborate with the global editorial team to manage manuscripts across related subject areas for Advanced Science.
Work closely with marketing teams to design and deliver initiatives that enhance journal visibility and impact.
Generate ideas and opportunities for subject-related products and initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
PhD in dermatology or a closely related discipline (immunology, allergy, skin biology) with a strong understanding of the dermatology research landscape.
Post-doctoral research experience and/or relevant editorial or publishing experience is highly desirable.
Strong experience in manuscript handling, including pre-screening, peer review, editorial decision-making, and managing complex cases (e.g., appeals, integrity issues).
Demonstrated subject matter expertise with an established publication record or equivalent academic credibility.
Strong global network within dermatology and related research communities, with the ability to engage and influence leading researchers.
Proven ability to contribute to or lead the development and growth of a journal, including commissioning content and driving submissions.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence to represent the journal externally.
Strategic mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and translate vision into actionable plans.
High levels of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
Willingness to travel internationally.
Benefits
Competitive compensation with a base salary in the range of 77,400 USD to 111,067 USD, depending on geographic location and experience. Additional benefits include comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development.
