Vice President, Marketing – Cengage Learning K‑12

We are seeking an experienced marketing leader to align our K‑12 go‑to‑market strategy across Product Marketing, Demand Generation, and Engagement Marketing. This senior role synthesizes market insights, partners cross‑functionally, and drives brand affinity, demand, and engagement while measuring impact and ROI.
Responsibilities

Product Marketing (Positioning, Messaging & GTM)

– Lead product marketing strategy across the K‑12 portfolio, create messaging, positioning, and GTM execution; conduct research to uncover customer needs and translate insights into compelling narratives; partner with Product, Strategy, and Technology leaders on roadmap, packaging, pricing, and launch priorities; ensure consistent storytelling across sales, marketing, brand, and customer touchpoints.
Demand Marketing (Pipeline Growth & Conversion)

– Own marketing’s contribution to pipeline and revenue, set and track short‑ and long‑term pipeline goals with Sales and GTM Operations; lead high‑impact ABM strategies focused on priority K‑12 districts, states, and adoption cycles; optimize win rates, reduce objections, and build attribution discipline and performance dashboards.
Engagement Marketing (Brand, Lifecycle & Thought Leadership)

– Enhance brand affinity and engagement through campaigns, content, and thought leadership; partner with internal teams to advance brand reach and consistency; engage media, influencers, and partners; lead personalized, account‑based and lifecycle campaigns; plan and deliver in‑person and virtual events and briefings.
Sales Enablement & Partner Marketing

– Oversee creation of sales tools, content and enablement assets; provide marketing support for strategic partnerships and channel initiatives; strengthen alignment between Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to improve pipeline conversion and retention.
Leadership, Operations & Measurement

– Build, lead, and inspire a high‑performing marketing leadership team; lead budgets and resources with rigor; continuously optimize investment; measure success using pipeline, conversion, win rates, adoption, retention, and brand health metrics; act as trusted advisor to executive leadership on market trends and competitive dynamics.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred or equivalent experience.
Minimum 12 years of marketing experience, including 10 years in K‑12 or education‑focused product and/or go‑to‑market marketing.
Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience.
Deep understanding of K‑12 state and district adoption markets and buying processes.
Proven success launching, scaling, and growing innovative products and solutions.
Strong analytical approach and ability to measure, interpret, and communicate impact.
Demonstrated strategic agility.
Proficiency with Salesforce.com and Marketing Cloud preferred.
Willingness to travel for customer and sales events as required.

Compensation

Base salary range: $192,500.00 – $250,250.00 annually. You will be eligible for the company’s discretionary incentive bonus program, with a target bonus of 35% of base salary. Compensation may include additional incentive compensation.
