The Director of Integrated Spacecraft Test Engineering provides strategic technical leadership for the Integrated Vehicle Test Group, ensuring integrated spacecraft testing excellence across the entire product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Direct development and execution of the integrated spacecraft test strategy aligned with business objectives and program requirements.
Build and lead a multidisciplinary department that unifies vehicle testing across all development phases.
Develop specialized expertise in integrated vehicle testing methodologies across the organization and foster a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing and problem‑solving.
Coordinate continuously with Systems Engineering, Program, and Production teams to evaluate and plan requirements, test events, and integration schedules.
Identify integration and test risks, assess mitigation strategies, and provide independent recommendations to stakeholders.
Oversee system‑level integration of subsystems and components (mechanical, electrical, software) and manage verification/validation and environmental test campaigns (thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, etc.).
Lead test anomaly and troubleshooting efforts, ensuring root cause identification and appropriate corrective actions.
Maintain continuous coordination with Production, Ground Operations, and Program teams for cost, schedule, and performance to plan.
Communicate complex technical topics to senior decision‑makers through clear briefings and written reports.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or related engineering (Master’s preferred).
12+ years of experience with spacecraft systems engineering, integration, and testing; 5+ years of leadership experience in spacecraft test engineering.
Demonstrated experience as a Lead Systems Engineer, Integration & Test Manager, or equivalent on spacecraft or satellite programs.
Comprehensive knowledge of spacecraft systems design, development, assembly, integration, and testing.
Strong understanding of integration flows, test sequencing, and verification methodologies.
Expertise in environmental test planning and execution (TVAC, vibration, acoustic, EMI/EMC, shock).
Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional technical teams in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building, problem‑solving, program management, and written communication skills.
Experience with budget planning, resource allocation, and personnel development.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance appropriate to the position.
Willingness to travel up to 25% as required.
Compensation
Salary range: $177,838.00 – $244,526.50 (actual base compensation determined on a case‑by‑case basis).
