Position Summary

The Senior Producer, Video Editorial is a newsroom leader with deep expertise in digital video, breaking news, and visual storytelling. The role focuses on senior editorial oversight of scripts, edits, headlines, and packaging to ensure content is engaging, accurate, and aligned with CNN’s digital strategy. When needed, the Producer steps directly into coverage, production, and editing during high‑priority or breaking news moments.
Key Responsibilities

Lead creative development and editorial execution of digital video across platforms.
Provide editorial leadership across scripts, visuals, pacing, and tone to ensure content is urgent, engaging, and built for digital audiences.
Drive breaking news coverage and produce video storytelling that helps audiences quickly understand and connect with major stories.
Lead projects end to end, balancing multiple priorities in a fast‑moving newsroom.
Manage and mentor producers and associate producers, elevating storytelling, editorial judgment, and production craft.
Maintain high editorial and creative standards while encouraging experimentation in format, tone, and visual treatment.
Review and approve scripts, edits, headlines, thumbnails, and descriptions, making strong editorial decisions aligned with CNN’s digital strategy.
Proactively ideate and experiment to evolve storytelling approaches and visual treatments.
Qualifications & Experience

8+ years of digital news experience in a national or major media environment.
Strong news judgment with the ability to identify compelling angles, prioritize coverage, and lead breaking news execution under pressure.
Deep understanding of digital video storytelling, including visuals, pacing, and headlines.
Proven experience developing editorial video formats optimized for digital, mobile, streaming, and social platforms.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced newsroom, managing multiple priorities and rapidly shifting editorial demands.
Leadership experience managing production teams, mentoring producers/APs, and guiding projects from concept to delivery.
Expert level shooting, editing, and post‑production skills, with advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere.
Strong collaborator with experience working across editorial, programming, product, and talent teams.
Proven ability to work with high‑profile talent and manage relationships with key stakeholders.
Passion for breaking news, current events, and innovative digital storytelling.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $75,950.00 - $141,051.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentives, and program‑specific awards.
