EU Public Affairs Director

Leading Shopify's EU Government Affairs work, the full-time salaried EU Public Affairs Director will develop and execute public policy strategies, build influential relationships in Brussels, and advocate for legislative outcomes that support entrepreneurship and commerce.
Key responsibilities

Develop and execute Shopify's EU government affairs and public policy strategy, ensuring alignment with legislative priorities
Serve as Shopify's primary representative in Brussels, engaging with key EU institutions and stakeholders
Coordinate advocacy efforts across priority policy areas, translating EU-level initiatives into actionable national outreach

Required qualifications

15+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory advocacy, with expertise in tech policy or ecommerce
Deep understanding of EU institutions and established networks within the European Commission and Parliament
Proven track record of delivering high-impact policy and advocacy outcomes
Strong data literacy and ability to leverage research for advocacy efforts
Experience building relationships and coalitions across government, industry, and civil society
