What We Need
WBZ NewsRadio seeks an experienced news writer/editor.
What You’ll Do
Responsible for gathering and producing morning newscasts with fresh sound and news content.
Responsible for writing creative and relevant on‑air news copy under continual rolling deadlines.
Establish relationships with listeners by providing news coverage to a targeted demographic audience.
Interview newsmakers, select short soundbytes and write around them for broadcast.
Adhere to all guidelines, policies and procedures of the station, iHeartMedia, the FCC and all other relevant laws, including policies regarding indecency and obscenity.
Communicate clearly with editors and other newsroom staff.
Update social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, etc.
Participate in required station Programming, Promotions, and Sales staff meetings and events.
Verify facts and produce news content.
Edit actualities for broadcast.
What You’ll Need
3+ years of previous newsroom experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and social networking.
Proficiency in media production and broadcast systems; familiarity with NexGen, Adobe Audition, NewsBoss is a plus.
Strong knowledge of all FCC rules and regulations.
Socially informed and perceptive; up‑to‑date with local and national trends and/or specialized knowledge of topics/events related to current events

4‑year journalism degree preferred.
Position requires proficiency in writing news copy, fact‑checking and research. Must work well under breaking news and deadline pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication and editing skills; proficient in grammar.
Demonstrated creativity and imagination.
Ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations and personalities.
Can work well in a team environment; collaborative.
Can adapt to changes in schedules and maintain composure in a fast‑paced environment with short deadlines.

Compensation
Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job‑related qualifications, and alignment with market data.
$17.66 - $22.08 per hour.
