Position Summary
The Creative Content Designer for Football will serve as a member of the Maryland Football staff, reporting to the Creative Director for Football. This role creates graphic design and social media content to enhance program visibility and support student‑athlete recruitment. Responsibilities include producing high‑volume graphics, managing the creative recruiting needs of the head coach and staff, implementing a football content calendar, coordinating design materials for recruiting visits, serving as the day‑to‑day social media content creator, assisting with photo shoots, managing interns, liaising with other department areas, ensuring compliance with NCAA, Big Ten, and university policies, and performing related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Generate high‑volume graphic design assets on deadline while maintaining quality.
Create visual content for social media platforms, including Instagram Reels and TikTok.
Assist with student‑athlete photo shoots, photo selection, archiving, and management.
Coordinate design materials and presentations for recruiting visits and internal operations.
Manage and mentor graphic design interns within the program.
Act as a liaison between the football program and other athletic department units and university offices.
Ensure all content complies with NCAA, BigTen, and university policies and procedures.
Provide day‑to‑day social media coverage of practices, workouts, team operations, and community service initiatives.
Work non‑traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and seasonal travel, and be present on field and in the locker room during games.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in design, communications, or related field.
Minimum of two years of professional graphic design experience.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects) and photography retouching (Photoshop or Lightroom).
Copywriting skills and a strong portfolio demonstrating strategic design sensibilities and illustrative skills.
Experience designing for social media platforms and understanding of content marketing and visual storytelling.
Ability to work cross‑functionally and manage multiple projects under brand standards.
Excellent time‑management, independent, and multitasking abilities.
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and travel as required.
Preferred: Experience at NCAA DivisionI or professional sports level; proficiency in motion graphic creation.
