Position Overview
Serco North America is on the lookout for a talented Public Relations and Executive Communication Specialist to join our team. In this dynamic role, you will play a crucial part in crafting and communicating our narrative with integrity and clarity.
Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with the VP of Marketing & Communications to enhance Serco's reputation through effective media engagement, storytelling, and authentic communication from our executives. You will be engaged in identifying, shaping, coordinating, and sharing impactful stories to earn media attention, focusing on media relations, executive communications, and thought leadership while gaining valuable experience as a trusted advisor.
Work Arrangement
This position offers a hybrid work schedule based out of our Herndon, VA office.
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations & Speaker Preparation
Develop strategies for effective media engagement.
Prepare executives for interviews, speeches, and panels with concise, factual materials.
Create and manage press releases, media briefs, Q&A documents, and messaging that align with both leadership voice and organizational priorities.
Cultivate relationships with journalists to enhance media outreach.
Awards & Recognition
Identify and oversee submissions for industry awards and recognition programs.
Craft nominations that vividly portray impact, outcomes, and organizational value.
Ensure submissions demonstrate strategic thinking, measurable results, and ethical communication standards.
Story Development & Storytelling
Discover and create stories that showcase real mission impacts, innovation, and the achievements of our people.
Develop press materials, pitches, and content that resonates.
Align stories with business objectives and tailor them to target audiences.
Executive Voice & Thought Leadership
Assist in nurturing an authentic executive voice across platforms (LinkedIn, speeches, media, internal communications).
Draft and refine content that reflects each leader's voice while ensuring consistency with overall company messaging.
Help leaders communicate clearly and credibly to key audiences.
Contribute to thought leadership that enhances Serco’s market position and reputation.

Qualifications for Success
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Bachelor's Degree required.
At least 5 years of experience in public relations, communications, media, or journalism.
Proven experience in media relations, storytelling, or executive communications.
Exceptional writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity and accuracy.
Strong understanding of the media landscape and proficiency in identifying compelling stories.
Ablity to convey complex ideas in clear, engaging, and truthful communications.
Effective relationship-building skills with media, leadership, and internal stakeholders.
Professional demeanor, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail.
Experience with style guidelines.
Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with corporate or government contracting environments is preferred.
