Job Description
We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer with agile methodology experience to support our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) client in Northern Virginia. The role will function as an Agile Scrum team member, delivering UI/UX design and development for releasable software within short sprint cycles, collaborating closely with business analysts, engineers, stakeholders, and end users.

Responsibilities
Conceptualize and design custom software application capabilities for legacy and modernized systems with limited oversight.
Lead the design of a cohesive look‑and‑feel and standardized user experience across applications.
Take a leadership role in collaborations between creative strategy, UX, visual design, development, and client teams.
Develop compelling, creative, user‑focused experiences aligned with business objectives.
Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to create and execute experience style guides, interaction patterns, and information‑design standards.
Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate design ideas to stakeholders.
Establish standard layout and style libraries across applications.
Work closely with the functional team to assess feasibility of requirements and refine design solutions.
Ensure product quality and timeliness, provide guidance, resolve issues, and submit periodic performance reports.
Provide mentoring to junior team members.
Qualifications – Required
U.S. citizenship with background‑investigation clearance (3‑year felony check, 1‑year drug check, and 1‑year misconduct check).
Degree in Interactive Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Human Factors, or related field.
3+ years of experience as a visual, interaction, or experience designer.
Proven ability to create intuitive, effective, customer‑value‑driven applications.
Experience managing design projects through discovery, concept, detailed design, and implementation stages.
Passion for solving complex user challenges.
Influence design and experience across applications to deliver consistent value.
Experience defining design systems and standards for enterprise use.
Champion UX vision, standards, and best practices aligned with program goals.
Stay current with industry and customer trends to keep solutions relevant.
Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and customer groups.
Communicate the user experience through concepts, maps, diagrams, wireframes, prototypes, and high‑fidelity visuals.
Use data, validation, and feedback strategies for design testing.
Responsive and mobile‑first design expertise.
Willingness to take risks and champion new ideas.
Experience designing consumer‑facing and internal tools.
Maintain user‑centered approach respecting business needs.
Effective in an agile design environment.
Knowledge of modern front‑end systems and open‑source frameworks (Angular).
Working knowledge of Sketch, Invision, XD, and related design tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaboration skills and team orientation.
Highly responsible, self‑starter with strong work ethic.
Qualifications – Desired
Design Thinking certifications (IDEO, Stanford, Cornell, MIT, etc.).
Proven experience designing for web accessibility (Section 508).
Experience with information architecture.
Ability and interest in educating others on user‑centered design best practices.
Advanced understanding of Lean processes and Agile principles.
Ability to apply advanced principles and contribute to innovative ideas.
Familiarity with HTML, Angular, CSS, JavaScript.
