Overview
Bloomberg Government is seeking a scoop‑hungry investigative reporter to follow the money across the Trump administration, revealing how power dynamics are evolving and who stands to benefit. The reporter will dig into federal outlays, expose patterns of political influence, and produce agenda‑setting journalism that shows readers how taxpayer dollars are really being spent.
Key Responsibilities
- Spot regulations, policy decisions, legal developments, and daily stories that need more scrutiny and research to uncover the deeper narrative.
- Develop investigative stories that highlight policy changes and their impacts.
- Meticulously report and fact‑check all work.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Bloomberg Industry Group newsroom, partnering on major stories and elevating each other's work.
- Identify which stories deserve attention and which do not.
- Manage time effectively to produce consistently high‑quality work.
- Write clearly and concisely on complex issues, aiming to capture readers’ attention.
Qualifications
- Ability to write crisply and clearly about complex issues.
- Excellent source development, time‑management, and interviewing skills.
- Proven ability to obtain documents and data through FOIA requests and to analyze data for story ideas.
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets (data skills are not required).
- 10+ years’ experience as a journalist.
- Bachelor’s degree.
