Director – Government Affairs

What you will be doing: The Director of Government Affairs will provide expertise to help Premier and our members understand, shape, and operate within rapidly changing policy environments to advance high‑quality, highly efficient healthcare. Specifically, the Director will support the development and execution of Premier’s advocacy strategy for technology and data policy, as well as advocating for policies that incentivize technology adoption and deployment in healthcare. The position will also serve as an advisor and spokesperson to members, lawmakers, the administration, and health policy experts to influence policy in a manner favorable to Premier and our members.

Responsibilities

  • Policy/Strategy Development – 35%: Support the development and execution of Premier’s policy positions and recommendations for regulatory and legislative topics including technology, data, privacy, and insurance industry oversight.
  • Regulatory/Legislative Resource – 35%: Serve as a connection point for Premier and its members with lawmakers and the administration, to support legislative and regulatory reforms that will advance Premier’s business strategies and member priorities. Engage members and partners in support of these efforts.
  • Coalition Participation – 15%: Collaborate with other healthcare organizations in DC to foster coalition efforts on policy and lobbying agenda, negotiating to advance the interests of Premier and our members.
  • Thought Leadership – 15%: Coordinate with the Public Relations team to develop and publish content to elevate advocacy priorities and Premier’s visibility.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7 or more years of applicable experience in policy research, implementation, advocacy, consulting, or work in insurer/health plan or hospital/health system settings.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Preferred: Strong quantitative reasoning skills in a healthcare research environment; project management and financial operations experience; training in public health, health services research, and policy analysis; demonstrated knowledge of healthcare systems and reimbursement policies.
  • Additional skills: Ability to communicate effectively with audiences in person and electronically, work in a collaborative business environment, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $113,000 – $188,000, dependent on market factors and internal equity.
